Grading

How grading works

Firoza sorts turquoise the way the trade does: by eye, against a written set of criteria, and always with the photographs that go with the parcel. These are commercial sorting labels, not laboratory grades.

A mixed parcel is not called a grade. It contains several qualities at once, and the grade examples on the quality page are drawn from real photographs of real material rather than from a rendering.

A pronounced spiderweb pattern is not automatically a fault. It is a structural feature that some buyers specifically want, and it is priced as what it is.

Quality and grading guide

What we can and cannot state

  • We publish photographs of the parcel as received, without hue or saturation correction.
  • We publish the weight once the parcel has been weighed. Until then it is marked as pending, not estimated.
  • We state treatment status honestly. Material is only published as untreated where that has been documented.
  • We do not publish laboratory results that do not exist.

Delivery

DAP — Delivered at Place

Under Incoterms 2020, DAP puts the cost of transport and the risk of transit on the seller until the cargo is delivered at the agreed named place. The buyer handles import customs clearance, import duties and taxes. DAP does not require the seller to insure the cargo, although the seller may buy insurance because the transit risk stays with the seller.

Arrival at an airport does not by itself complete a DAP delivery. Where the buyer collects the cargo from the carrier at the destination airport, CPT or CIP may be the more accurate term. The exact handover point is agreed with the forwarder and confirmed on the quotation.

Seller

Seller: air transport to the agreed named place, export handling and documentation, transit risk until delivery.

Buyer

Buyer: import customs clearance, import duties and taxes, and collection where the agreed term places collection at destination.

Import duties, taxes and clearance charges are excluded from every published total. Currency conversion, bank charges and any inspection or certificate costs are excluded unless the quotation states otherwise.

How an order runs

Six steps from lot to delivery

  1. 01

    Choose the lot

Open the stock page, filter by product line and inspect the parcel photographs for the lot you want.

  2. 02

    Set the quantity

Pick the purchase mode, the quantity and the destination airport. The price and the DAP total update as you do.

  3. 03

    Send the inquiry

The lot, quantity, destination and price travel with the inquiry. You only fill in how to reach you.

  4. 04

    We confirm the quotation

We verify remaining stock, weigh the parcel if needed, and issue a quotation with its own validity date.

  5. 05

    Terms and payment

The Incoterm, the payment method and the documentation for the shipment are agreed in writing per order.

  6. 06

    Air freight and delivery

We load to the agreed named place of delivery and send you the documents for import clearance and collection.

Documentation

What travels with the cargo

  • Commercial invoice

The invoice states the lot reference, the composition sold, the agreed weight and the agreed price.

  • Packing list

Package count and weights, so the cargo can be checked against the invoice on arrival.

  • Lot specification sheet

The same specification published on the lot page — colour, matrix, shapes, grade, weight and condition — printed for your file.

  • Shipment documentation

The export paperwork required for the route and the destination. The applicable classification is confirmed per shipment.

FAQ

Practical answers

What do I actually receive when I buy a lot?

The parcel as it appears in the photographs on that lot page, in the quantity you ordered, at the weight stated on the quotation. For a mixed parcel, the photographs show the whole parcel; a drawn quantity is a representative sample of it and will not reproduce the exact distribution shown.

Is every stone natural and untreated?

Material is supplied as natural turquoise, and each lot carries a treatment status. We only publish "verified untreated" where that has been documented for that parcel; otherwise the lot shows "not assessed". We do not claim laboratory certification and we do not publish results that do not exist.

What does the grade on a lot mean?

It is our own commercial sorting label — C, B, A, AA, or collector — used to describe material inside a parcel. It is not a laboratory or gemological certification grade. A mixed parcel is not given a single grade, because it contains several qualities at once.

How do you measure the material?

Net gemstone weight in grams, weighed on our own scale. Kilograms and carats are shown for convenience: 1 kg = 1000 g, and 1 g = 5 carats. Gross shipping weight is recorded separately and is never presented as the weight of the stone.

What is the minimum order?

It is set per lot and per product line. Weight-based lots usually start around 0.5 kg; beads are quoted by piece or by weight; finished tasbih and jewellery are quoted per item and never carry a kilogram minimum. The exact minimum is shown on the lot page.

Is the price different for each buyer?

No. Prices are published per lot and apply to every customer. The delivery charge is calculated separately from the confirmed freight rate for the route you choose, and both are shown before you send the inquiry.
